Suite No. 1, BWV 996

Passagio - Presto

“My family was at a restaurant called El Pescador,” she says, “and we listened to a band that had a harpist for over an hour. I didn’t play the harp yet, but its sound struck me, which became part of my musical conscience.”

Once Elizabeth began learning the harp, her parents sent her to Mexico for three months. “I stayed on General Santa Ana’s hacienda grounds,” she says, “and studied the harp with one of Mexico’s most famous harpists, Maestro Alberto de la Rosa.”

She still saves the Maestro’s sheet music.

Hear Elizabeth perform in the short film “ Le Noir Est Beau,” as featured in Vogue.

The first time Elizabeth Steiner saw a harp in person, she was visiting Tlacotalpan, Veracruz.
